Responsibilities & Expectations
“Observe, Record, Report”
Failure to meet these Expectations may result in loss of Membership to the Island Rangers
- You are required to follow the Expectations, Code of Conduct, Policies and Bylaws of the Island Ranger Society.
- Your safety is your number one responsibility.
- Read emails and newsletters that are circulated to the membership, familiarize yourself with the website, and frequently review the NOTICE BOARD on the nome page for any updates.
- You must sign into the website Calendar EVERY time before accessing Mosaic lands. You must also check for any area closures due to weather, Wildland Fires or operational activities.
- Rangers cannot book into multiple zones in a single day. If you plan to travel through a different zone then the one you booked to recreate in, it must be clearly noted in the comments sectionwith an overview of your route.
- All guests must sign and carry the guest waiver. Fill out the rewquired info for the quest in the booking and include them in your pre-trip, prior to heading out.
- You must keep your contact information, Emergency Contact & Vehicle Plate & Description complete and up to date on the website.
- Members will display the appropriate combination of decal, orange placard, front plate or flag pertinent to their vehicle type whenever they enter the land base.
- You must have appropriate automobile/ATV liability insurance on your vehicles. No unlicensed or uninsured vehicles permitted.
- Members who wish to use an ATV/ORV must be an active member of an ATV club which has a valid acceassa agreement with Mosaic and must fully comply with the terms of that agreement. No ATV/ORV use during Extreme Fire Danger ratings or when public access is cloaed due to the fire hazard. There is NO WEEKDAY ATV/ORV use, unless its a holiday.
- You must have a working radio & call out on the radio every 2 – 5kms, when you enter a new road and at all Radio Call Points.
- All members must access Mosaic managed lands at least the required number of times in the calendar year, to keep your membership with the Island Rangers Society.
- Membership Dues must be paid by Dec 31 of each year (per bylaws). Late payments will be subject to a surcharge.
- The Safety Test is required to be done annually, resetting every January 1st. This must be successfully completed prior to being able to book and enter Mosaic lands. In addition, you will be required to retake the Safety Test if you have not accessed Mosaic Lands or the Website in the past 90 days.
- If you cannot recreate due to injury/illness/unexpected family curcumstances that may be extended, you should contact your Regioinal Coordinator ASAP to discuss the option of a Leave of Absence. LOA's may not be granted if the request is well after the fact.
- You should always "leave gates as you found them" – UNLESS you are performing gate duty. Close consideration is required on an unsecured gate after hours, during fire season or in areas closed to the public where there is no white "leave open" magnet card applied. *If you are unsure always contact security and confirm gate status*.
- After finishing your trip on Mosaic lands, you must complete the MANDITORY Post Trip Report withoput delay and within 24 hours of your trip. Rangers who may be out of reach of communication for multiple days should note this on the booking and can complete one post trip with the needed details within 24 hours of returning.
- Reports to Security are to be submitted forthwith so concerns can be quickly addressed as necessary.
- You should carry or have access to a copy of your booking permission and confirmation.
- All Rangers should carry the In Case of Emergency list, (found on thye Website).
- During fire season you must carry – Fire Season document, a shovel, axe or Pulaski & 5 Gallons of water or a 10 lb fire extinguisher.
- No overnight camping.
- No campfires – at any time
- Properly extinguish all cigarettes (Carry a pop bottle with water).
- You will receive decals, a magnetic sign, and an IW access card as well as options for a flag, plate, FOB's, gate access via an app and/or keys. These items remain the property of the Island Rangers Society and Mosaic Forest Management and you must returnall such items to the Island Rangers Society when your membership ends.
